Episode 52 - Boundaries Part 2
On one of my first episodes of the podcast I introduced you all to the idea of boundaries. We talked about how boundaries are the price someone pays to access you, but I also want to add the idea of boundaries and your comfort zone, and then also go deeper into the idea of how to enforce boundaries in your life - especially with those “hard to enforce boundaries with” people that you have.
I did sort of hit this point in my last episode, but let’s revisit it.
Boundaries can be looked at through the lens of this is my bubble and sometimes I need to expand my bubble based on how comfortable I am. Your bubble might be big with some people - possibly people you haven’t met before, someone who maybe doesn’t respect your boundaries normally, or someone you might be going through a tough time with. Sometimes our boundary bubble expands and we might not even know why.
Now when we establish boundaries some people might not be used to it and they might feel the need to push the limits
- Clearly communicate your boundaries
- Don’t participate in unproductive conversations
- Decline invitations that involve spending time with them.. Use “I” statements to put the control back to you
- Don’t react to their disrespectful behavior
- Walk away
